Medieval Bras!

Hey Fans! In 2008, archaeologists from Europe discovered 600-year-old undergarments. Further research, testing, and carbon dating were required to ensure the assorted lingerie was legit, and as of a couple days ago, these tests were completed. Historians documented early examples of bras back to the 1800s. However, Austrian archaeologists at the University of Innsbruck said Wednesday that these particular brassieres date back to the 1400s! That makes their use much earlier than previously thought! “We didn’t believe it ourselves,” Beatrix Nutz, the archaeologist responsible for the discovery, told The Associated Press. “From what we knew, there was no such thing as bra-like garments in the 15th century.” The four linen bras were discovered in an Austrian castle. Some of these pieces look almost exactly like modern-day bras. Researchers now say they have early undergarments supporting the claim that the modern-day bra may actually have its roots in the Middle Ages. The four bras were decorated with a frilly lace. Hooray for these medieval maidens for supporting their breasts by wearing a bra, and looking good while doing it! http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/world-oldest-bra-discovered-austrian-castle-middle-ages-article-1.1118174
